One of my favorite and best neighbors passed away June 2 of this year. His name was Otto, and he was 42. When my family moved to the neighborhood in 1977, Otto had been here for about ten years. He was a well-known actor, an artist, and friend to many.
Otto was a gorilla, and he lived at what was once known as "The Chimp Farm", now the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary, a private, non-profit Foundation run completely by volunteers and private donations. Best known outside of his home from his ads for American Tourister luggage, within the sanctuary he was undoubtedly the star.
A celebration of his life is planned on July 11, 2007 at 9 AM at the sanctuary, 4600 Alternate US 19, Palm Harbor. For more information, see LINK.

Great story! Otto is in gorilla heaven.
Funny I got banana... but maybe gorillas and monkeys only eat bananas in movies.
Hey Loretta- thats kind of sad to hear about Otto dying. I read the article that you linked and the people that run the Primate Sanctuary seem very loving.
