Ode to Ollie--A Thanksgiving Tale

You may (or may not) have seen her--I posted on demand a mini Ode to Ollie, when asked to do a Meme, but this one has special meaning, because, as my nifty calendar reminded me just now--my grandma Ollie celebrates her 98th Day of life tomorrow, Thanksgiving day.Ollie Mae

This beautiful baby was born in 1909, to Emma Arcadia Edwards Fox and William Moore Fox, of Chatham County, NC.  It boggles the mind to think of the things this woman has seen, done, thought in the past near-century.  She barely left her home in North Carolina, yet her spirit and her blood carries around the world--her nine children and their children, and their children have dispersed as far as Australia, and England, and yet she remains, still, where sometimes it seems she will always be.

Thank you, Grandma Ollie, for bringing generations of us into the world, for showing us the meaning of love, longevity, music, faith...you are the rock on which we all reside.  Blessings to you, and to all who have witnessed your miracle.

I would love to hear tales from her of what she has seen in the last 98 years. It is amazing that the things that have been invented in her life that we don't even think of.

Oh, Todd, and does she have some tales to tell!  This is a woman who could identify "Jimson Weed", with a chuckle, and who for the longest time I thought was calling little potatoes "Ice Potatoes"--turns out it was "Irish"...

You are so right, Deborah!  I used to ask my grandmother how she did it--nine children, limited transportation--her answer was "Well, I didn't have 'em all at once!"
